A large Chinese flambé-glazed ceremonial bell, yong zhong
Qing dynasty, 18th century
Moulded in the form of a bronze bell, each face set with rows of bosses divided by keyfret bands, applied with cafe-au-lait glaze to the tips of the bosses, the flat top surmounted by a tall and pierced tapering shaft, covered to the inside and out in an attractive reddish-purple glaze suffused with lavender streaks,

Condition Report:
A large chip to foot, and one boss to top row broken off. A chip to mouth rim, and small chips along the foot rim. Restorations to six bosses, and cracks to one face.
