(i) The work is fully laid down on a secondary sheet of laid paper, an early arrangement. There is some uneven discolouration to the sheet and light surface dirt and some losses to the chalk surface. (ii) The sheet is full laid down on card. there is a loss to the sheet above the Virgin's head. The pen and ink work is strong.
