A well-modelled Chinese painted pottery figure of a court lady holding books, Tang dynasty, H 45 cm (+)
A Chinese painted pottery figure of a Fat Lady, posed in a relaxed stance with both hands and holding a staple of books, attired in voluminous flowing robes and a belt around the waist, her hair tied up ending in a chignon drooping above her chubby face, accented by pink-painted cheeks, Tang dynasty, H 45 cm
Provenance: from a refined private Belgian collection of fine art, acquired from Zen Gallery, Brussels
(+) including documentation from Zen Gallery, Brussels
In overall good condition and appearance consistent with its age, with following remarks:
- some losses of the polychrome pigments (mostly the hairdress)
- a small punch hole to the base, indicating that the piece was once sampled for a thermoluminescence test
