Ink Landscape
Hanging scroll, ink on paper, inscribed by the artist with a poem and signed
Banmu Gong Xian with two artist's seals.
69 x 18 1/2in (175 x 47cm)
Acquired in Hong Kong prior to 2000, thereafter by descent.
The two seals of the artist, Gong Xian and Zhongshan Yelao, are identical to seal nos. 44 and 47, p. 1627, in Shanghai Museum ed., Zhongguo Shuhuajia Yinjian Kuanzhi (Seals and Signatures of Chinese Painters and Calligraphers) Vol. I, Beijing, 1993, artist no. 37. The style of signature is close to examples nos. 58, 68-70, pp. 1628-9, in the same reference. Other paintings by Gong Xian with these two seals stamped by the side instead of below his signature include the three-panel painting with continuous scene, Landscape Dedicated to Xi Weng (1674) in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing.

註：本拍品上所鈐「龔賢」及「鐘山野老」印與上海博物館編《中國書畫家印鑒款識》上卷（北京，1993）所收錄龔賢（藝術家編號1219）印蛻編號44及47（頁1627）一致，落款亦可參考該書頁1628-1629所示編號58、68-70。本拍品中上述二印鈐於落款旁側而非底部，北京故宮藏龔半千一六七四年作三屏通景畫《為錫翁作山水圖屏軸》亦是如此。
