Mounted for framing, ink and color on silk, unsigned and absent of artist's seals.

Although this painting is neither signed nor dated, the color palette and choice of deep opaque pigments is reminiscent of late Ming dynasty aesthetics. Similarly, the theme of exotic birds was a favored hobby of numerous emperors over the centuries, and Ming emperors famously received peacocks, parrots and ostriches as tribute from faraway lands, keeping them in aviaries on the Palace grounds. In this scroll, caged birds are carried into a garden, whereupon they are released for a flight or a swim--the ducks happily pairing off--while two regal seated figures enjoy the scene, surrounded by attendants and bird handlers.

註：此畫雖未署款紀年，然設色濃麗厚重，頗具明末風格。畫題所繪珍禽，亦為歷代帝王雅好，明代宮廷尤以孔雀、鸚鵡、鴕鳥等異域所貢為珍，並豢養於宮苑中。畫面中籠鳥入園，旋即放飛戲水，鴨群相依成對，二位著龍紋雲肩的顯貴端坐觀之，侍從與禽吏侍立左右。
