拍品描述:
An Ottoman Illuminated Calligraphic Panel with Qur’anic Verses, Dated 132 Hijri, 20th Century.
A large and finely illuminated Ottoman calligraphic panel, executed in ink, gold, and polychrome on paper. The composition is divided into multiple registers framed with scrolling floral borders. At the center and lower sections, bold inscriptions in black thuluth script declare invocations including:
"O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad"
"Indeed, with hardship comes ease; indeed, with hardship comes ease" (Qur’an 94:6–7)
The upper and lower fields are richly decorated with dense arabesque and floral scrollwork, while the central geometric lattice features interlaced stars and polygons in blue, green, and gilt, symbolizing the order of creation and divine harmony. Surrounding cartouches bear additional Qur’anic invocations and prayers in elegant calligraphy. Calligrapher: Mohammad Ali, 1324 Hijri
Approximately 95 x 34.7cm (incl. frame)
Provenance: Private collection from a distinguished W London lady
