HOLY BISHOP WITH BOOK Southern Germany, probably 1450/1460 Linden wood, sculpted, stained, flattened and hollowed out on the back, on a pedestal. H. 63.5, W. 21, 12 cm, weight approx. 2.35 kg. Bishop figure in a solemn pose, depicted in full regalia with mitre and book. The expression on his face is calm and contemplative, at his feet is a smaller kneeling figure - possibly a penitent. Partially preserved and damaged, one hand is missing, woodworm infestation.HEILIGER BISCHOF MIT BUCH Süddeutsch, wohl 1450/1460 Lindenholz, plastisch geschnitzt, gebeizt, rückseitig geflacht und gehöhlt, auf einem Sockel. H. 63,5, B. 21, T. 12 cm, Gew. ca. 2,35kg. Bischofsfigur in feierlicher Haltung, in vollem Ornat mit Mitra und Buch dargestellt. Der Gesichtsausdruck ruhig und kontemplativ, zu seinen Füßen eine kleinere kniende Figur - möglicherweise ein Büßer. Part. best. und besch., eine Hand fehlt, Anobienbefall.
