Sueki ware (also also referred to as Sue ware) is a type of traditional Japanese pottery that originated during the 5th-6th century during the Kofun period and continued to be produced into the Nara and Heian period. It is an ancient Japanese stoneware pottery known for its hard, high-fired clay. Typically unglazed, these wares were used as everyday storage vessels, mainly produced in the Kansai region. It played a key role in early Japanese ceramics, serving a practical purpose and laid the foundation for later traditional pottery styles.
