A Palais Royale gold-mounted mother-of-pearl carnet de bal, second quarter 19th century, of slim form with diamond push-button, the hinged lid with gold mounts to each side inscribed SOUVENIR and D’AMITIE, with vacant interior, each side with a ribbon-tied floral cartouche, one containing an enamel plaque depicting Mars and Cupid, the other with a pierced scrolling monogram, within a foliate engraved gold border, 7.8cm high, 5.7cm wide, 0.7cm deep
