Both of the present depictions of the Madonna's face are details after original works by Raphael, including the 'Madonna of the Goldfinch', also known as the 'Madonna del Cardellino', housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence [1890 n.1447], and the painting commonly referred to as the 'Bridgewater Madonna' in the National Galleries of Scotland in Edinburgh [NGL 065.46].
