A LIMOGES GRISAILLE PAINTED ENAMEL PLATE WORKSHOP OF PIERRE REYMOND, 16TH CENTURY Jason and Medea conversing in a forest, plate 8 from The Legend of the Golden Fleece, the borders with rims with interlinked scrolls and chariots interspersed with frolicking putti and satyrs, both backs painted with profile portraits surrounded with a band of fruit and foliate scrollwork grisaille and partially gilt painted enamel on copper, monogrammed 'PR' and numbered '8' 20cm diameterProvenance: Private CollectionThis plate depicts Jason and Medea conversing in a forest taken from engravings by René Boyvin after drawings by Léonard Thiry for the 1563 publication of the Book of the Conquest of the Golden Fleece.
