8vo (162 x 98 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: 2a-z8 A-B8 C4 (lacking index, a-h8): 204 (of 268) leaves. Woodcut Aldine device on title-page, early manuscript pagination and marginalia in two hands, sixteenth-century aphorism on verso of last leaf. (Scattered foxing and staining, margin of 2n2 torn.)
binding: Parisian brown calf over pasteboards (170 x 106 mm), ca. 1520s, richly tooled in gold with multiple rules and leaf patterns, corner tools may be Guignard B in "L'Atelier de Simon Vostre", traces of two pairs of ties, spine with raised bands in six compartments, edges gilt. (Extremities rubbed with some loss to head and foot of spine, upper joint weak.)
provenance: Sixteenth-century inscription "Roussellet" on title-page — seventeenth-century inscriptions "Pierre Joseph Bollier" on title and facing flyleaf. acquisition: Purchased from Michel Bouvier, Paris, 1996. references: Cf.
