拍品描述:
AN INTERESTING INK-STONE FEATURING A DRAGON AND THE GOLDEN CROW

China, Qing dynasty or later
This finely carved inkstone is of traditional rectangular or circular form, the surface worked in relief with a dramatic composition of a soaring dragon chasing or encircling the golden crow—a mythical bird associated with the sun. The dragon's sinuous body emerges from stylised clouds, its claws extended and mouth agape, while the golden crow is shown either perched within a sun disc or in flight, rendered with powerful wings and three distinct legs.

The pairing of dragon and golden crow is very rare and cosmologically potent—representing the celestial balance between yang (sun/fire) and shenlong (divine rain/sky power). It symbolises imperial authority, the passage of time, and the unity of heaven and earth. This inkstone is not only a functional scholar's tool but also a deeply symbolic object embedded with Daoist and cosmological meaning.
