Novr 21.1827' below a coronet, rubbed marker's mark, charge and discharge mark of Julien Berthe, Paris date letter,

Probably, Mary Montagu, Duchess of Montagu(c.1711/1712–1775) to her daughter,
Lady Elizabeth Montagu, later Duchess of Buccleuch(1743–1827) to her daughter,
Lady Elizabeth Scott (d.1837) who married Alexander Ramey-Home, 10thEarl of Home (1769-1841),
thence by descent in the collection of the Earls of Home at The Hirsel, Berwickshire.
The engraved inscription is dated the day that Elizabeth, Duchess of Buccleuch died.
