This is a jade bi, a typical ritual object and ornament in ancient Chinese jadeware. The jade bi is circular in shape. The main body of the jade has a whitish color with tan - brown colored - inclusions. Its surface is intricately carved with dense nipple - like patterns, giving it a textured appearance. Around the central hole, there are exquisite open - work patterns with smooth and flowing lines, which may be variants of traditional auspicious motifs such as dragons and phoenixes.
