Two rare Chinese chased gold five-ridged headdresses
拍品描述:
Two rare Chinese chased gold five-ridged headdresses, Ming Dynasty, chased and embellished with dragons and phoenix, the larger crown incised with ri 'sun' and yue 'moon' characters in the front cartouches, 9cm high x 10cm wide, the oval shaped crown 4.5cm high x 8.8cm wide (2)ProvenancePrivate CollectionPreviously purchased from Luen Chai Curios Store, Hong Kong, 6 March 1998In the early Ming period, Chinese aristocrats wore their long hair swept up and tied back into buns. The present lot would have fitted over the piled hair and been secured by a gold hat pin, which went through the side holes horizontally. The manufacture of gold objects was tightly controlled by the central imperial court and the use of gold was restricted to the imperial family and high officials. Compare with a nine-ridged example at the British Museum, circa 1400-1500, accession number 1938,0524,247明 金龍鳳紋五樑冠兩件拍品來源:英國私人珍藏,此前於1998年3月6日以十萬港幣購自香港號外古齋聯
