A Chinese silver wine cup, with a narrow raised band below the everted rim, one side applied with a ring-handle with a projecting thumb piece on top, 6.1cm high x 9.8cm wide; and a Chinese parcel-gilt silver globular tripod jar, raised on three cabriole legs, the punch-dotted ground engraved and gilt with three panels of figures, 10cm high; and a Chinese silver gilt melon shaped miniature box and cover, Tang Dynasty, the lobed sides of the vessel supported on a slightly concave base, the domed cover similarly lobed and centred by a turnable finial in the form of the melon's stem, 3.3cm diameter, weight 13 grams (3)Provenance:Private CollectionGilt silver tripod jar purchased from K.Y. Fine Art, Hong Kong, 11 March 2002Examples with a handle similar to that on the present cup, include the cup illustrated in Tang, Eskenazi, London, 1987, no. 8, which is decorated with scrolling grapevine and peony scroll on a ring-punched ground, and two others illustrated in Zui to no bijutsu, Osaka Municipal Museum, 1976, nos. 2-28 and 2-30.
