The porcelain, mid Qing dynasty, the mounts, early 20th century
The thinly-potted, globular vessel, mounted in American silver, stamped 'Edward I. Farmer, New York, Sterling', the hinged cover mounted with white jade floral plaque and an apple-green jadeite finial, the porcelain5.4cm high, overall 11cm high.

Edward I. Farmer (1872-1942) was a well-known New York dealer with galleries at both 5 West 56th Street and 16 East 56th Street where he offered Chinese works of art, as well as European antiques. He is best remembered for the decorative lamps and desk accessories which he had fashioned from various Chinese jades and porcelains.
Porcelain unexamined under mounts but apparently drilled through base and possibly slightly cut down at rim. The metal slightly tarnished but otherwise generally good.
