A FINE CHINESE EXPORT FOLDING FAN WITH VIEWS OF PRAYA (PRAIA) GRANDE IN MACAO (MACAU) Qing Dynasty, Daoguang Period, Circa 1930s - 1940s 清道光 外銷南灣風景圖折扇 設色紙本 成扇 This very finely painted folding fan, decorated to one side with three cartouches of different views including the Praia Grande in Macao, the Hongs in Hong Kong and a general view of Victoria harbour in Hong Kong seen from the Kowloon peninsula during the middle of the 19th century, the reverse side decorated with a busy domestic daily scene depicting fifty individuals, the fan enclosed in wood guards carved with stylised scroll motifs. 52cm wide; 27cm high - PROVENANCE: Santos, London - NOTE: Please refer to a similar fan from Queen Victoria; bequeathed to King Edward VII, 1901 and housed in the Royal Collection Trust, collection no. RCIN 25072, which was also exhibited in Unfolding Pictures, the first ever exhibition of fans from the Royal collection, held at the Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace,17 November 2006 - 11 February 2007; another similar fan housed in the Asian Civilisation Museum, Singapore, collection no. 2015-00049.
