the steel greave silver overlaid with a monumental central inscription in Kufic letters reading ‘The sultan and …’ and fine wire swirls along the edges possibly intended to mimic Arabic script, carved Saint Irene arsenal mark at top, with half riveted mail on three sides connecting two steel slats decorated en-suite to each length
