PROVENANCE:
From The Estate of Jim Francis (Dec 24, 1944 - June 14, 2018) Resident of the Atlanta Metro area for numerous years.Jim Francis was a true scholar having a degree in English. His early career started as a professor at a community college in Kentucky. During the Vietnam era, he became an instructor for the US Air Force. When computers were first becoming popular Jim became a software engineer which lead him to a career in being a method analyst for a major hospital group. While working with Doctors from different cultures Jim became an avid collector of Chinese items, His widow has placed his treasured articles to be sold at auction.

A Chinese nephrite celadon jade censer, in round deep vessel form, with domed lid, circular bud finial, and dual free-ring ornamentations. Two phoenix creates shoulder pieces with U-shaped stalk curls extending outward eventually connecting further down the vessel to complete the handle grips with free rings. Tripod cabriole footings protrude from the bottom of the censer mating to corresponding grooves located on the hardwood stand. The main exterior decorated with symmetrical archaic phoenix simulating the Taotie mask of the seeing eyes. Six flanges emerged from the body and dome lids, dividing jade censer unto six sections. The domed lid crowned with simply bud finial, with Fu bats reliefs surrounding the Longevity Shou medallion on top. The stone of white or pale celadon color with a moist slick appearance and attractive golden russet inclusions.
