Superb mid-19th-century brooch in 18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold, centered on a very fine cameo representing Bacchus in banded sardony. On either side, two shell shapes decorated with small pearls, probably natural, that might suggest Aphrodite. French owl hallmark. Small traces of soldering on the back. Beautiful original leather and velvet case.
