Finely potted with curving sides rising from a short inward-tapering foot to an everted rim painted with floral sprays, the centre of the dish painted with a lake surrounded mountainous shores dotted with pavilions, in the foreground a scholar followed by a boy-attendant carrying a
guqin walking towards a thatched hut.

A similar blue and white 'Master of the Rocks' dish, Kangxi, is illustrated by T.Canepa and K.Butler, Leaping the Dragon Gate: The Sir Michael Butler Collection of Seventeenth-Century Chinese Porcelain, London, 2021, p.459, pl.III.4.129, which was later sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 29 November 2022, lot 2962.
