Ornately carved Asian, possibly Japanese export, lacquered hardwood bench or loveseat depicting profuse mythical and geometric motifs throughout in high relief; the armrests in the form of dragons chasing flaming pearls and a scene along the backsplat portraying birds amid foliage and floral blooms, possibly lotus, late 19th to early 20th century.
Height: 49 in x width: 53 in x depth: 26 in.
The chair appears structurally sound. There is a small possible loss along the apex of the backsplat. There are some small and fleabite chips to the lacquer throughout along high points of the carved details. Separation to the joints throughout, especially along the seat. Some bowing to the seat. Dust gathered along the recessed areas.
