VERY RARE COMPLETE SET OF TEN HANDWRITTEN QING DYNASTY CHINESE ACUPUNCTURE MANUSCRIPTS - "针灸大成全函"
拍品描述:
This remarkable set includes ten volumes of hand written Chinese manuscripts of Zhenjiu Dacheng, The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, featuring 103 meticulously drawn illustrations. These manuscripts were produced based on the 1680 edition by Wang Gaoru in the town of Fenyi in the Shanxi province, in the seventh year of the Jiaqing period (1802). Originally compiled by the esteemed Yang Jizhou (1522-1620), this collection offers in-depth descriptions of acupuncture’s origins, detailed depictions of human anatomy, and insights into how acupuncture can treat various ailments. The first four pages bear handwritten medical notes and prescriptions from a doctor who owned these during the late Qing Dynasty, enhancing the historical depth of the set. This collection is ideally suited for academic institutions, museums, or private collectors with a focus on traditional Chinese medicine, historical medical texts, or Asian cultural heritage. Its detailed illustrations and comprehensive content make it a valuable resource for research and educational displays, adding depth and authenticity to any collection. All 10 volumes are in great vintage condition. Please refer to the photos for more details. Provenance: Former collection of Bruce Dayton & Ruth Stricker Dayton, Minnesota. Please refer to the photos for more details. Size of the case: 12.7 cm x 21 cm x 11.5 cm or 5" x 8-1/4" x 4-1/2".
