Die analytische Malerei Hofschens bewegt sich um die Begriffe "Farbe", "Raum", "Struktur" und "Material". Die Farbe erfährt in der Fläche durch begrenzende Linien und sichtbare Schichtungen ausgesprochene Spannung. Sie kann ihr Eigenleben in voller Intensität entfalten, sowohl auf als auch in Zusammenspiel mit dem ihr unterliegenden Bildträger.
