Ming Dynasty, 15th/16th century
Heavily potted with deep rounded sides, the central medallion painted within a scroll border with four flowering peonies amidst leafy branches emerging from a craggy rockwork, further decorated on the cavetto with a band of camellia, painted around the everted bracket-lobed rim with another band of classic scroll, the exterior similarly decorated with flowering peonies bordered by classic scrolls and fan-pattern, overall painted in varied cobalt-blue tones, the base unglazed, fitted box.
