A beautiful hand paint color, and ink on paper woodblock vertical print. Edo Period, features Matsumoto Koshiro V (Japanese 1801-1838) kabuki actor bundle up for the winter. Full title Actor Matsumoto Koshiro V on the Bank of the Sumida River. The original print can be found in a triptych set (this particular print is the left side) in a 1820s series titled Actors on the Theme of Snow, Moon and Flowers by ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Kunisada (Japanese, 1786-1865), also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III. Artist signature on the lower left. Print placed on mat paper. Mat: 10"W x 14"H. Print size: 4.75"W x 7.25"H.
