The large figures and sparse interior design indicates that it belongs to the earliest group of Kashan pottery, dubbed the 'monumental style' by Oliver Watson. An example with a similar profile, also decorated with cross-legged smiling figures around the exterior, is in the al-Sabah collection. That example, formerly part of the collection of D. K. Kelikian, was reportedly excavated in Sultanabad.
